The book was published as Geisha, a Life in the U.S. Sayo Masuda has written the first full-length autobiography of a former hot-springs-resort geisha. All Reviews and Books Rated 4/5 Autobiography, Geisha of Gion, Mineko Iwasaki, Non-Fiction Lady Kell of Kincavel 3:13 pm. Iwasaki later went on to write her own autobiography, which shows a very different picture of twentieth-century geisha life than the one shown in Golden's novel. Interesting article, nonetheless. They divorced three years later. Last October 2011, I got my hands into a book that I really wanted to read: Geisha of Gion. It's the autobiography of a geisha, Mineko Iwasaki (whom Arthur Golden acknowledged at the end of his book: Memoirs of a Geisha). Plus, how can she comment on pre-war geisha life? Together, they adopted a daughter, Amy Fishman (born 1953). Her opinion didn't seem to mesh with the content of Autobiography of a Geisha, written by a former onsen geisha.
